Today, roads are requiring more frequent maintenance and repair; however, traditional surfacing systems long favoured by traditionalists are becoming more difficult to justify in light of their cost and environmental impact.

GRIPFIBRE® is a 'second generation' proprietary microsurfacing that through exceptional skid resistance and durability properties provides an excellent compromise between technical characteristics and cost on a large number of road projects.

The innovative aspect of GRIPFIBRE® is the inclusion of synthetic fibres in the formula. These make it possible to apply gap-graded formulations without risk of segregation and thus ensure lasting surface texture. They also reduce the risk of emulsion drainage and loose chippings when the road is re-opened to traffic.

The binder used is from the EMULVIA GRIP® bituminous emulsion range. Binder type selection should be based on factors including expected traffic loadings and climatic conditions.

BBA HAPAS Certificate 04/H087 relates to the GRIPFIBRE® Cold Ultra-Thin Surfacing System and its use as a surface course on highways.
